The list of top men not playing Wimbledon and/or Olympics continues to grow, as just this morning Dominic Thiem pulled out of Wimbledon due to injury. Of course it’s still guaranteed to be a fantastic field, but seeing major champs drop from the list is always disappointing. Many familiar faces are playing lead-up tournaments this week in Mallorca and Eastbourne, so here’s what you need to know if you missed the action: Medvedev has looked strong, especially with his routine win over Ruud this morning. Players known for their prowess on grass — including veterans Lopez and Querrey — have been in action and reminded us how they’ve developed these reputations. Other contenders seem to be getting their rhythm on the practice court as we’re now just days away from the main draw action at Wimbledon! If you need to catch up on qualies results…this is the best spot to do it.

The women have been in Eastbourne and Bad Homburg for lead-up tournaments this week, and grass court veterans such as Kvitova and Kerber continue to improve their form ahead of the year’s third major. Ash Barty enters Wimbledon as the favorite (+500 to win the event) with contenders such as Serena Williams (+650) and Bianca Andreescu/Petra Kvitova (+900) trailing. Unsurprisingly, this field has a very different dynamic than the men’s tournament that has such a dominant favorite to take home the title. Stay tuned…draws come out tomorrow!
