It’s the season of Wimbledon! As we move into the 3rd Round, there have already been several upsets, unfortunate withdrawals, and impressive form seen on both the men’s and women’s side. Let’s get you caught up on today’s action!
WTA Updates
Multiple seeds saw 2nd Round exits today, including Sakkari, Azarenka, and Svitolina. With the earlier exits of contenders such as Serena Williams and Kvitova, the Ladies’ draw has unsurprisingly opened up! No. 1 seed Barty continues her strong form with a straightforward 6-4, 6-3 win over Blinkova. Tomorrow, there are several great matchups to get excited about! Americans Rogers and Keys battle Rybakina and Mertens respectively, while former champion Muguruza takes on Jabeur for a place the the 4th round. Other Americans including Stephens, Brengle, and Gauff are still alive in the draw!
ATP Updates
On the men’s side, we saw the unfortunate exit of multiple Americans, including Querrey, Sandgren, Giron, and Johnson (knocked out by fellow American Fritz). Monfils and Dimitrov were the seeded players who were upset today, by Martinez and Bublik respectively. Crowd favorites Federer and Norrie enjoyed straight-set wins to enter the 3rd Round. Tomorrow’s set of matches is exceptional, with multiple matches involving Americans: Tiafoe vs. Khachanov, Kudla vs. Djokovic, and Korda vs. Evans. Tune into ESPN to stream it all!
