2023 Australian Open
Early American Success
The 2023 Australian Open has been marked by the impressive performance of American men, with eight of them making it to the third round.
This is the type of success we haven’t seen in some time, and it is a testament to the strength and depth of American tennis. The players include Ben Shelton, JJ Wolf, Tommy Paul, Sebastian Korda, Mackie McDonald, Frances Tiafoe, Jenson Brooksby, and Michael Mmoh.
With such a strong showing in the early rounds, American tennis looks to be in a great position to make a deep run in the tournament.
Nadal Upset Early
The 2023 Australian Open was rocked by a shocking upset when top-seed and defending champion Rafael Nadal was beaten by American Mackie McDonald in straight sets. McDonald, who is currently ranked 65, was able to complete a commanding performance winning 6-4, 6-4, 7-5.
